ALFRED, NY—Both senior Dalton Walsh (Stockton, NY/Cassadega Valley) and sophomore Tyler Seelman (Lorton, VA/Hayfield Secondary) drop 16 points on Ithaca College in the Terry S. Galanis Family Arena en route to a, 73-59, win for the Saxons (12-7, E8 6-5).

Alfred University dominated the game against their Empire 8 foe, outscoring Ithaca 44-30 in the paint and never losing the lead once throughout the game.  The Saxons also held a slight advantage in fast break points, 14-12.

AU jumped out to an early lead, opening the game with a 15-5 run in the first seven minutes of the game.  The Saxons would maintain their dominance throughout the first half taking a lead on the Bombers by as many at 12 points.  AU shot 14-of-35 (40.0%) in the opening half while holding Ithaca (10-10, E8 7-4) to a meager 9-of-36 (25.0%).

Walsh fronted AU with 16 points in the first half.  Sophomore Eric Adams (Lebanon, NJ/Hunterdon Central) crashed the boards for nine rebounds while senior guard Ryan Mahon (Oneonta, NY/Oneonta) ripped down six more boards.  The Saxons took a 35-26 lead into the locker room at the half.

As if the first half did not spell trouble for the Bombers, Seelman carried a hot hand into the second half and plummeted two three-pointers in the opening 1:29 of the second half to get the Saxon lead to 15.  AU continued its momentum and got out to a lead of 19 points on the Bombers.  However, Ithaca forced its way back into the game, getting within seven with 10:23 to go in regulation.  By the 1:51 mark the Saxons were back out to a 17-point lead and rode their momentum to victory, 73-59.

Walsh ended the night with 16 points after running into foul trouble in the second half, and just missed a double-double with eight rebounds on the night.  Seelman also added 16 points and four assists; Adams dominated on the boards and ended the night with 11 rebounds—moving his total rebounds against Ithaca during the regular season to 26 in two games; Mahon flirted with a rare rebounds/assists double-double, totaling nine and seven, respectively.  Freshman forward Kevin McFall (Hatboro, PA/Upper Moreland) notched 13 points and five rebounds while sophomore Julian Reinhart (Hornell, NY/Hornell) added 12 points, six assists, and three rebounds.  The Bombers were led by junior guard Sam Bevan with 10 points and eight rebounds.

The Saxons stay alive in the Empire 8 with the win over Ithaca and look to carry their momentum into Friday's game at home against Nazareth College at 8PM.
