FSC Earns Road Victory at Maritime

Farmingdale State - 62, Maritime - 53


Throggs Neck, N.Y. - In Skyline Conference men's basketball action this afternoon, Farmingdale State earned a 62-53 victory at Maritime.

After the Rams (5-13, 3-8) jumped out to an early 15-9 lead, they used scores by Eddie Kinloch (Brooklyn, N.Y.) and Ruben Terrero (Brentwood, N.Y.) to extend the advantage to 19-9. Farmingdale State held a 21-11 edge before a 7-0 Privateers (5-13, 3-8) run cut the deficit to three with 7:39 left in the first half.

Farmingdale State led 26-18 with 5:29 on the clock but were held scoreless the remainder of the half and took a 26-24 advantage into the break.

Maritime took their first lead of the game at 30-28 but the Rams answered with a 20-3 run to open up a 48-33 advantage with 10:47 remaining. Maritime quickly responded with seven unanswered points over the next 3:28 to close within eight, 48-40.

Trailing 50-42, freshman guard John Licesse (Bronx, N.Y.) scored the next five points for Maritime to cut the deficit to three, 50-47. Six straight Farmingdale State points gave the Rams a nine point lead at 56-47 with 2:36 left on the clock. The Rams would hold on for the 62-53 road victory.

Junior forward Marques Underwood (Bronx, N.Y.) recorded a double-double with 17 points on 7-of-9 shooting and 11 rebounds, while Kinloch finished with 12 points and seven boards. Sophomore forward Weldon Irvine (Queens, N.Y.) scored nine points and blocked a game-high four shots in the win.

The Privateers were led by Licesse's game-high 20 points.

Farmingdale State next will host Yeshiva in a conference game on Monday, February 2nd at 8:00 p.m.
