The SVC men's basketball team took an 18-2 early lead and never looked back, cruising to an 86-66 win on the road in Beaver Falls over Geneva College.

The Bearcats scored the game's first 8 points, including four from senior Sean Kett.  After a pair of Geneva free throws, SVC then embarked on a 10-point run, started by the three from Ben Klimchock at the 15:25 mark.

Pat Jones added a jumper, followed by a conventional three-point play from Austin Dedert.  Kett ended the rally with another bucket, making the score 18-2.

Strong defense by the Bearcats kept Geneva from hitting a field goal until the 11:50 mark of the first half, but after the Golden Tornado score made it 18-4, SVC scored the game's next seven points, four from Jones surrounding a three by JC Howard.

A three from Bobby Swartwout with 7:05 on the clock made the score 31-9.  After a bucket by the hosts, John LeGrande hit a hook shot, then followed with a blocked shot on the opposite end of the court that led to a fast break score by Jaylon Bell, running the lead to 26, at 37-11.

With 2:25 remaining, Ben Klimchock hit a long three to make it 42-14, and Dan Sinwell closed the Bearcats' scoring in the half with a rebound and a coast-to-coast drive, helping SVC go into the break with a 46-20 advantage.

After the hosts scored the first four points of the second half, Dedert and Bell connected for five quick points to make it 51-24, but Geneva reeled off seven straight points to cut the gap to 51-31 near the 14-minute mark.

The lead held near the 20-point mark for the next several minutes.  With 8:45 to go, Ethan Adamcyzk cut the gap to 18, at 62-44, but Jones hit an 18-footer while LeGrande was being fouled, giving the ball back to SVC after the bucket.  LeGrande then scored to make it a 66-44 game with 8:02 left, and the advantage remained near that level the rest of the afternoon.

Klimchock led the offense with 18 points, all from outside the arc, on 6-for-7 shooting.  Jones added 14, while Bell scored 12.  Also in double-figures for the Bearcats were Howard (11) and Kett (10).  Jones led the team in rebounds with 5.

SVC (14-5 overall, 9-1 in the Presidents' Athletic Conference) had a solid day shooting, hitting 60.3% for the day...60.6% in the first half, 60% in the second half.  As a team, the Bearcats hit 11 of 18 three-pointers, while out-rebounding Geneva by a 31-18 margin.

The team returns to action on Wednesday (February 4) at Waynesburg.  Tipoff is 7:30PM.
