Blue Devils downed by Blugolds at Zorn Arena

EAU CLAIRE (January 28, 2015) - UW-Stout held UW-Eau Claire's leading scorer to more than 11 points under his season average and the Blue Devils had four players score in double digits, but that still didn't prove to be the formula as Stout dropped a 69-64 decision at Zorn Arena Wednesday.

The Blue Devils (3-16, 0-10 WIAC) led for a good poriton of the first half, at times as much as six points, but Eau Claire outscored Stout 18-9 over the final five minutes of the first half and carried a 40-31 lead into the intermission. The Blugolds led by no fewer than four points at any time during the second half.

The Blue Devils did a push, outscoring the Blugolds, 8-1 in the final 1:09 of the contest.
 
Eau Claire's Eric Effertz led all scorers with 20 points. Jack Martinek added 13 and Kurtis Moody came off the bench to score 10 points. Stout held Tysen Kalien to five points, well under his 16.4 points per game average. The Blugolds shot 60.9 percent (14-23) from the floor in the first half, and finished the game shooting 53.3 percent (24-45).

Stout was led by Javis Ragland (Sr, Milwaukee) and D'Marcco Patrick (Fr, Kenosha), who each scored 14 points. Ragland finished with a game-high eight rebounds. Brett Ahsenmacher (So, Annandale, Minn) tosse din 10 points. Isaac Elliott came off the bench to score 10 points. Stout shot 42.9 percent (24-56) from the floor.

The Blue Devils will be at UW-Oshkosh, Saturday, Jan. 31, then return home to host UW-La Crosse, Wednesday, Feb. 4 at 7 p.m.
