ERIE, Pa. – The Pitt-Bradford men's basketball team fell short to conference rival Penn State Behrend, 67-47, at the Junker Center on Wednesday night.

Pitt-Bradford senior Keith Burgess led the scoring for the Panthers with 13 points in a tough night from the field. The Panthers only shot 34 percent as a team.

Pitt-Bradford (10-8, 7-4) started the contest keeping pace with the Lions, going bucket for bucket and taking an early lead out of the gate. However, the Lions quickly regrouped at the 14:30 mark by taking the lead and never giving it back.

Penn State Behrend (17-2, 11-1) raised its Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference win streak to six straight games with tonight's victory. Junior Zane Hackett helped extend that streak by contributing 20 points to the win against the Panthers.

Early offensive struggles for the Panthers ultimately proved to be the deciding factor. Pitt-Bradford shot only 29.6 percent from the floor in the first half to Penn State Behrend's 48.1 percent.

The Lions ran away with lead in the first half by pounding the ball in the paint. Sophomore Wes Davic had nine first half points for the Lions, scoring on all of his four shot attempts.

A Davic jump shot at the 6:33 mark started a 10-0 run for the Lions until Burgess broke the hot streak with a layup. Penn State Behrend went into the half leading 33-19.

The offensive woes continued for the Panthers in the second half as the Panthers were not able to gain any ground on the scoreboard against the Lions.

Much like the first half, the Panthers struggled offensively against the Lions in the second, not being able to put any kind of run together and only shooting 33.3 percent for the game from the floor.

Pitt-Bradford's coach Britt Moore said, "It was a tough loss. We have to get ready for the weekend."

Pitt-Bradford goes on the road to face AMCC opponent Pitt-Greensburg on Saturday, Jan. 31. Tipoff is set for 4 p.m.
