GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – Robert Ryan and Corey Wheeler hit 3-point shots to spark Albion's late 8-1 run, but the rally fell short in a 71-67 loss to Calvin in Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association men's basketball action.

Calvin led 64-54 when Austin Parks connected on a pair from the line with two minutes left.

Albion whittled the deficit to 65-62 when Dakota Kazen tacked on a pair of free throws with 40 seconds left. Kazen's 3-point basket with 16 seconds left gave the Britons hope as they trailed 67-65.

Jordan Daley and Parks iced the game for Calvin by combining to go 4-for-4 from the line.

The teams traded points for the first 12 minutes of the game until Calvin seized control with a 20-4 run over the final eight minutes of the first half. Jordan Brink scored nine of his game-high 19 during the rush, while Brad Visser produced a pair of 3-point baskets.

Zach Hurth and Travell Oakes finished with 13 points apiece for Albion. Kazen and Wheeler also reached double figures with 12 and 11, respectively.

Albion, which completed the first half of league play at 1-6, travels to Kalamazoo for a 3 o'clock game Saturday.
