Berry men's basketball falls at Oglethorpe

ATLANTA, Ga. -- Freshman Coleman Ellingsworth scored a career-high 17 points, but the Berry College men's basketball team fell at Oglethorpe University, 90-64, on Thursday night.

The loss dropped the Vikings to 3-4 overall and 0-1 in the Southern Athletic Association. The Stormy Petrels moved to 7-2 overall and 1-0 in the SAA.

Ellingsworth was 5-8 on field goals and a perfect 5-5 from the free throw line. He also made two 3-point shots in the loss.

Berry had two other players in double digits on the night: Caleb Johnson and Owen Jacobs.

Johnson added 13 points for the Vikings. He was also a perfect 3-3 from the free-throw line and added five field goals as well.

Jacobs collected 11 points in the loss and was 3-4 from the free throw line. He also grabbed 11 rebounds.

BC led by as many as five points in the first 20 minutes. Oglethorpe, however, went on a 21-7 run during the last 4:32 of the first half and led 45-33 at the break.

For OU, Drew Patrick had 17 points in the win and was 6-10 shooting, as well as 3-5 from the 3-point line and 2-2 from the free throw line. Oglethorpe's Alex Davis also netted 14 points for the Stormy Petrels.

The Vikings look to claim their next win as they host Maryville (Tenn.) on Saturday, December 6, at 3 p.m.​
