Alkhulaidi Earns Third Skyline Conference Rookie Of The Week Award

New York, N.Y. – College of Mount Saint Vincent freshman forward Ammad Alkhulaidi (Brooklyn, N.Y.) has earned Skyline Conference Rookie of the Week accolades in Men's Basketball the league office announced on Monday. The award is the third of the season for Alkhulaidi.

 

Over two Skyline Conference victories last week, Alkhulaidi led the Mount by averaging 19.0 points, 7.5 rebounds, 3.0 assists and 2.5 blocks per game. Although he shot just 29.2-percent (7-for-24) from the floor overall, Alkhulaidi shot 50-percent (3-for-6) from three-point range and 72.4-percent (21-for-29) from the free-throw line.

 

On Thursday against Yeshiva, Alkhulaidi scored a career-high 22 points, going 5-for-16 from the floor, including a career-high three three-point field goals. Alkhulaidi's third triple of the game beat the buzzer in overtime to send Mount Saint Vincent to a 69-68 road victory. He closed out the game with six rebounds and four assists for the Dolphins.

 

To round out the two game stretch last week, Alkhulaidi totaled 16 points and hauled in nine rebounds in a 77-62 conference victory at Sarah Lawrence. He added a career-high five blocked shots and went 12-for-17 from the free-throw line.

 

Through the Dolphins game at Sarah Lawrence, Alkhulaidi ranks third in the Skyline Conference in blocked shots, fifth in rebounding and eighth in field goal percentage.

 

At 11-5 overall and 7-2, Mount Saint Vincent will return to action on Wednesday when it welcomes Purchase to the Peter Jay Sharp Center. Tip-off is scheduled to 7:00 p.m.
