TERRE HAUTE, Ind. -- Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology placed four players in double figures and outrebounded Hanover College by 14 boards to earn a 75-64 men's basketball victory on Wednesday night at Hulbert Arena.
Junior Jimmy Miller crossed the 20-point mark for the second time this season with 20 points and six rebounds to lead the Fightin' Engineers. Miller finished 8-14 from the field with six rebounds.
Three players reached double figures with 10 points each. Junior Matt Loesing was 5-10 from the field with five rebounds; junior Dillon Reynolds finished 4-7 from the field and sophomore Collin Wojcik was 4-8 with five rebounds.
Other key contributors to the Rose-Hulman offense included junior Tyler Duffy with seven points, eight rebounds and seven assists; and junior Mitch Williams with career-high totals of seven points and six rebounds.
Hanover placed three double figures and hit eight three-point shots to remain within striking distance. Wes McKinney led the Panthers with 13 points. Corey Muchmore and Kyle James pitched in with 11 points each.
Rose-Hulman also dished out 19 assists on 29 baskets, with Duffy recording seven and senior Corey Povaleri adding five.
Hanover jumped out to an early 12-6 lead, before Rose-Hulman rallied to tie the score at 17-17 on back-to-back baskets from Duffy and Loesing. Hanover regained the lead at 27-22, but Rose-Hulman closed the first half on a 10-2 run to take a 32-29 edge into the locker room.
In the second half, Rose-Hulman continued the spurt with a 9-2 run to push its lead to 41-31 on a free throw by Miller. Hanover trimmed the lead to six points at 49-43, but a run that included five points each from Miller and Wojcik pushed the Engineers ahead 61-45 to secure the victory.
Rose-Hulman improved to 10-6 on the season and 6-3 in Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference play, while Hanover dropped to 8-8 and 5-4 in league games. The Fightin' Engineers travel to Transylvania University on Saturday at 3 p.m.
