OAKLAND, Mich. – Albion matched Division I Oakland University basket-for-basket for nine minutes, but the Golden Grizzles flexed their muscle in the form of an 11-0 run and they went on to hand the Britons an 83-68 setback in non-league men's basketball action.

Lucas Marble and Vince Hill hit three-point baskets as Albion forged a tie at 14 with 13 minutes left in the first half. Zach Hurth tacked on a pair of three-point basket as the Britons seized a 20-17 lead and the Britons led 22-20 on Travell Oakes' layup.

Max Hooper hit a pair of three-point baskets and Nick Daniels produced five points during Oakland's decisive spurt. The Golden Grizzles led 31-22 on Dante Williams' three-point shot with 7:50 left in the first half and they led 47-34 at halftime.

Oakland led by as many as 24 in the second half. Albion, however, held its own in the second half, as it was outscored 36-35 in the period.

Hurth knocked down 5-of-6 attempts from three-point range and he led Albion with 15 points.

Oakland center Corey Petros made all eight of his shots and he led all players with 19 points. Jalen Hayes and Williams chipped in with 17 and 10 points, respectively.

Albion Notes

Albion shot 47 percent (24-of-51) for the game and 50 percent (14-of-28) from three-point range. Vince Hill and Corey Wheeler were both 2-of-3 from long distance and Dakota Kazen made the only three-point shot he took.

It will be Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association contests from now on for Albion. The Britons welcome students back for spring semester with a 7:30 p.m. Wednesday home game against Olivet.
