GWYNEDD VALLEY, PA. -- Neumann hit a go-ahead three-pointer with four seconds left while a last-chance attempt didn't go as Gwynedd Mercy fell to the Knights, 72-71, Saturday afternoon in a Colonial States Athletic Conference Matchup.

In a matchup that featured 19 lead changes and 12 ties, as well as neither team having  more than a five-point lead, the Griffins (9-6, 4-4 CSAC) had some chances to extend play.

Sophomore Arron Goodman led GM with 16 points while senior Justin Knight and junior Brian Hennessey each added 15 but the Griffins have now dropped three of their last four.

Leading 31-28 at the half, Gwynedd saw the Knights run off an 8-0 run early in the second to take a brief lead.

Hennessey, who hit four of the team's eight three-pointers on the day, rang one up with three minutes to play to knot the score at 64-64. On the next Neumann possession, Knight would strip the ball at mid-court and drive in for two more to cap the five-point swing.

The Knights would rally thanks to DeShawn Loman, who was 8-for-10 at the line in the second half and 12-for-15 for the game, who hit two at the charity stripe for a 69-67 lead with 1:23 to go.

After a tough bucket inside from sophomore Cedric Elleby to tie it for the 12th time in the stanza (69-69), the Griffins would make a defensive stop to get the ball back. Goodman would get fouled on a drive to the hoop and hit one of two from the line with just 29 ticks. Neumann then set up a play that almost didn't get off the ground as a loose ball was scooped up and found the hands of Kevin Greene who hit an off-balance three-pointer with four seconds in regulation. However, the Neumann bench came onto the court looking to celebrate an early game-winning shot, but with time still on the clock, the team was assessed an technical foul, giving GM a chance to tie the game. Knight stepped to the line to make the first, but his second rimmed out, keeping Neumann in the lead.

The Griffins then had a chance to inbound from the endline with 2.5 seconds but Hennessey's homerun pass was intercepted Lamon Church, but his toss of the ball hit the ceiling, stopping the clock again with 0.2 and giving Gwynedd one more chance. Hennessey's lob toward the bucket was swatted away.

Loman ended the day with a game-high 25 points while teammate Andrew Moye added 20 points and 10 rebounds. Neumann would outrebound Gwynedd, 28-27.

Elleby pulled down 11 rebounds and scored eight points. Goodman corralled six.

Gwynedd Mercy shot 55.6% (25-of-45) for the game and 8-of-17 from downtown, butt just 13-of-25 at the stripe. Their 18 turnovers led to 23 Neumann points. The Knights (8-6, 5-2 CSAC) were 49.0 % (25-of-51) from the floor and 3-of-11 from behind the arc.

The Griffins welcome defending champion Cabrini to the Griffin Complex on Wednesday as part of a CSAC Doubleheader.
