Annorh shot an efficient 8-for-13 from the field and hit on eight of his 10 free throw attempts. He also added six rebounds and four assists in just 24 minutes. Khalil Bratton (Queens, NY) posted a double-double with 14 points and 10 rebounds on just five shot attempts from the field (4-for-5), while Romario Fletcher (Queens, NY) added 10 points and eight rebounds. Eight other players scored as all 16 players saw five or more minutes of action in the contest.
SUNY Canton shot 46 percent from the field (24-for-52) and 39 percent (7-for-18) from three-point range. Meanwhile, the Warriors hit on just 33 percent of their field goals and 19 percent of threes.
Head Coach Jim Bechtel used a platoon system during the first half rotating five new players every five minutes to give all his players an opportunity to see action in the famous Barclays Center. The starters got SUNY Canton off to a quick 18-8 lead that was capped off by a Scott Bartenstein(Potsdam, NY) trey. The highlight of the day came just 54 seconds into the game when Annorh scanned the floor from outside the three-point line and hit Fletcher for a perfect alley-oop that brought the crowd to their feet.
The Vaughn defense tightened up as SUNY Canton went through a bit of a scoreless stretch as the Warriors opened up a 23-18 lead with 7:24 remaining. The Roos (6-2) used a strong finish to the half to lead 36-30 at intermission.
SUNY Canton extended its lead to as many as 10 early in the second half after a Bratton lay-up in transition followed by a bucket in the paint from Matt Spencer (Gouverneur, NY). The Roos largest lead of the game came when they went up 11 with 6:48 remaining in the game after Tyler Ellison (New York, NY) split a pair of free throws.
Vaughn scored the next 11 points to knot the game at 57-57. Annorh proved huge down the stretch and the key play came with 1:56 remaining with the Roos ahead 65-64. The sophomore point guard received a pass from Fletcher on the left wing and calmly drained a three ball to give SUNY Canton a two possesion lead.
Bratton and Annorh finished the game off going a combined 4-for-4 from the line in the final 36 seconds for the 72-64 win. SUNY Canton held a 14-8 edge in fastbreak points, while the Vaughn bench outscored the Roo reserves 20-14. The Roos made a living on the glass controlling rebounds 53-32.
