The Baruch College Bearcats lost to the Seagulls of Salisbury University, 65-51, in an opening round game of the Randolph-Macon Kay Jewelers Coaches Classic near Richmond, Virginia.

The two teams were tied at 37 with 13:19 remaining, but the Seagulls scored nine of the next 11
points to build a 46-39 lead.

Chimaechi Ekekeugborwould later score a layup to get the score to within three (48-45), but the Seagulls pulled away in the final seven minutes by outscoring the Bearcats, 17-6, to record the holiday victory.

Granville Gittenswas the lone Bearcat this evening in double-figures with 23 points, five rebounds and three steals. Edward Roscigno dished out five assists and Ekekeugbor finished with two blocks.

The Seagulls shot 52 percent (12-for-23) in the second half and connected on 9-of-27 total three-point attempts during the entire game.

The visiting Bearcats shot 41 percent (20-for-49) this evening to suffer their second loss in eight games.

Wyatt Smith led the Seagulls with 26 points (10-14 fg, 3-4 3fg) and eight rebounds.   

The Bearcats will return to action Tuesday night with a 7:00 pm contest against the tournament host and current No. 22-ranked Yellow Jackets of Randolph-Macon College.
