JUNIOR GUARD MATT WALKER NAMED ALL-TOURNAMENT TEAM IN BSU INVITATIONAL

Bridgewater, MA- The Men's Basketball team fell to the Bridgewater State Bears 77-62 in the consolation game of the BSU Invitational. The Bears improve to 2-2 overall while the Cougars drop to 1-3 overall.

The Cougars and Bears traded buckets for nearly 14 minutes of the 1st half. The game was tied four times. The largest for any team was four. The Cougars led three times, but at most was three points. With the score tied at 22 apiece in the 1st half, the Bears would go on a 8-0 run, and pull away with the lead. The Cougars would cut the lead to three points in the early stages of the 2nd half, but that would as close as they got to the lead.

The Cougars were led by Junior Guard Matt Walker with a team high 19pts (7-23 FG-FGA, 3-7 3pt. FG-FGA, and 2-5 FT-FTA). Walker grabbed four rebounds and dished out two assists. He was named to the All-Tournament Team. Senior Forward/Center and Co-Captain Valin Williams recorded a double-double, scoring 14pts (6-12 FG-FGA and 2-4 FT-FTA) and carouling 11 rebounds. Williams added a block and a steal. 

The Bears were led by Michael Lofton with 19pts and Tyler DeMelo adding 15pts.   

The Cougars will be back in action on Tuesday November 25. 2014, when they battle the York College Cardinals. This will be the Cougars home opener and first conference game of the season. Game time will be 8:00 pm.
