Defense Lifts Men's Basketball to 62-49 Win Over York; Bearcats 6-1, 3-0 CUNYAC

The Baruch College Bearcats defeated the defending CUNYAC Champions Cardinals of York College, 62-49, in a conference contest on Friday night in the ARC Arena.

The Bearcats used suffocating defense to limit the visiting Cardinal to 29 percent shooting (17-for-58), which included only six field goals in the second half, to finish the Final Exam/Holiday Break with a 6-1 overall record and 3-0 mark in the CUNY Athletic Conference (CUNYAC).


Granville Gittensled the team with a double-double of 23 points (7-11 fg), 10 rebounds, two steals and one blocked shot. Chimaechi Ekekeugborhad another solid game off the bench with 18 points, 11 rebounds and two steals.

Ryan Markoehad four steals and Edward Roscignodished out six assists to keep the Bearcats undefeated in early season conference play.

Jaron Williams led the visitors with a double-double of 15 points, 10 rebounds, three steals and two assists.

The Bearcats will resume action on Monday, December 29, at the Randolph Macon Holiday Tournament in Ashland, Virginia. The Bearcats open play against Salisbury University at 5:00 pm.
