Big Blue Comeback Falls Short

          The Millikin men's basketball made a late charge, but the comeback attempt fell short as the Big Blue lost to Greenville College 75-69.  Greenville improves to 5-3 while Millikin goes to 4-4.

          Greenville shot lights out in the first half hitting on 68 percent from the field including 43 percent from three point range.  The Panthers were shooting over 70 percent from the field for more than 15 minutes of the first half.  Greenville led at halftime 46-29. 

          The first 11 minutes of the second half was played even as the Big Blue would make short runs only to be answered by the Panthers.  Greenville led 66-49 with 8:45 left to play.  Millikin then mounted a valiant comeback.  The Big Blue pulled to with four at 70-66 on a Tives Gardner three pointer with 2:16 left to play.  Ron Harris would push the Greenville lead back to six.  Jacob Kueker then made it a three point game with 40 seconds left, but that was as close as Millikin would get has Harris nailed three free throws down the stretch to secure the Greenville win.

          Greenville shot 59 percent from the field on the game while Millikin shot 36 percent.  Greenville edged Millikin in the rebounding battle 34-30. 

          TJ Griffin led Millikin with 21 points including 14 in the second half to fuel the Big Blue comeback.  Griffin has four assists and three steals.  Kueker finished with 18 points and four rebounds.  Bryn Agnew had a team high seven rebounds.

          Harris led Greenville in scoring with 21 points and eight rebounds.  Andrew Scott had 15 points and six boards. 

          There will be no time to recover for the Big Blue as they travel to Rose-Hulman on Wednesday for a 7:30 p.m. ET start.  It will be the Big Blue's fourth game in seven days.
