DUDLEY, Mass. – Junior Irving Eggleston (East Lyme, Conn.) scored a team-high 23 points in Nichols College's 81-73 loss to Husson University in non-conference men's basketball action Monday night at the Nichols Athletic Center.

The Bison – playing their third game in less than 72 hours – also saw Eggleston notch five of the Bison's 11 steals on the evening. Junior Christian Horton (Rutland, Mass.) went for 10 points, five rebounds, two steals and two assists. Senior Matt Langadas (Sebago, Maine) registered 10 points, four rebounds and a pair of times while senior Chris Johnson(Mansfield, Mass.) sparked the team with six points and five boards off the bench before fouling out in the second half.

Junior Trevon Butler (Waterbury, Conn.) led all student-athletes with 24 points to go along with nine boards, four assists and three steals for the Eagles. He also canned 11-of-14 from the charity stripe to help the Eagles improve to 4-1. Freshman Raheem Anderson (Everglades, Fla.) filled the stat sheet with 18 points, six rebounds, three assists and two steals in 31 minutes off the bench as Husson shot 52 percent from the field in the second half (11-of-21) and outscored the Bison 47-37 over the final 20 minutes.

Nichols used an 18-3 run to take a 20-10 lead midway through the first half. Eggleston netted six points while Langadas and Horton each had four to help the Bison build a double-digit lead. Husson closed the half on a 24-16 run as Butler finished the stanza with nine points and five boards while freshman Matt Talbot (Portland, Maine) had eight. Each team shot over 40 percent from the field, but the Bison struggled from both the three-point arc (1-of-11) and the free throw line (3-of-10).

The Eagles took their first lead since the opening minutes of the contest when senior Jacob Moore (Hampden, Maine) converted a layup at 16:27 of the second half. Nichols answered with a three from Langadas, a layup from senior Joe Gallant (Salem, N.H.), and a layup from Horton to regain a four-point lead at 46-42. Husson went ahead for good four minutes later when Talbot's layup gave it a 49-48 lead. The lead grew to nine courtesy of a pair of free throws from Moore with 5:06 to go before two more from Anderson at 2:58 made it an 11-point Eagles lead (71-60).

Husson outrebounded the Bison 38-31 and overcame 23 turnovers. The Eagles bench scored 35 of their 81 points, led by Anderson's 18 and Talbot with 11. Nichols shot 45 percent overall (29-of-64) but missed 10 of its 22 free throw attempts and 20 of its 23 three-pointers.

The Bison (2-3) head to Roger Williams next week to open Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) play at 7:30 p.m. on December 3. Husson plays at Thomas Tuesday, December 3 at 7:30 p.m.
