Rookie Chimaechi Ekekeugborposted a double-double (17 pts, 10rbs) to help the Baruch College Bearcats defeat the Devils from FDU-Florham, 69-48, in a non-conference home contest played on Saturday afternoon in the ARC Arena.

The Bearcats took control midway through the first half with rookie
Bryler Paigehitting a three for a 13-11 advantage. That basket started a run that saw the team score 27 of the next 39 points to carry a comfortable 36-23 lead into the halftime break.

They finished shooting 50 percent (13-for-26) in those opening 20 minutes and used suffocating defense to limit the visiting Devils to 33 percent shooting (8-for-25).

During the second half, things did not change much as the Bearcats kept growing the lead until an Ekekeugbor layup gave them their biggest advantage of 24 points (59-35) with 6:29 remaining.

The entire roster saw action this afternoon to help the Bearcats improve to 3-1 on the season.

The Devils finished shooting 25 percent (13-for-51) and were limited to five field goals (5-for-27) in the second half.

The Bearcats featured a balanced scoring attack with Ekekeughbor (17pts, 10rbs) and
Granville Gittens(11pts, 3stl) leading in the scoring column.

Edward Roscigno(9pts, 4ast, 3 stl) and Paige (8pts, 2-3 3fg) contributed to the impressive home win.

Donte Ali led the visitors with 15 points, nine rebounds and two blocked shots.

Baruch will return to action on Wednesday, December 3, with a 7:30 pm home contest against the Ducks from the Stevens Institute of Technology.
