November 25, 2014

Bristol, R.I. –The Johnson & Wales University men's basketball team remained undefeated for the 2014-15 campaign with a 69-47 victory against intra-state rival Roger Williams in a non-conference contest on the road on Tuesday evening.

Junior Quarry Greenaway (Westchester, N.Y.) once again led the way for Johnson & Wales, scoring a game-high 24 points with 15 rebounds while freshman Jarell Lawson (Providence, R.I.) added 12 points, six rebounds, two assists and two steals while junior Tom Garrick (Seekonk, Mass.) rounded out the double-figure scorers for the Wildcats with 11 points and eight boards.

Andrew Wasik (Gainesville, Fla.) led the Hawks with 12 points with two rebounds and two assists, while Jaylen Jennings (Norwalk, Conn.) added 11 points and two rebounds for the Hawks.

Both teams battled back and forth throughout most of the first half, with the two squads combining for four ties and five lead changes. By the end of the period, both teams entered the break tied at 24.

Greenaway laid in a basket to break the tie before Jennings responded for RWU. The two teams traded baskets before another lay-in by Greenaway helped spark a 14-4 run for the Wildcats.   The double-digit deficit proved to be too much for RWU to overcome. A dunk by senior Robert Lewis (Baltimore, Md.) with 2:23 to play gave JWU its largest lead (68-42), as the Wildcats rolled to the 69-47 victory.

With the victory Johnson & Wales improves to 3-0 for the season while Roger Williams drops to 1-4 on the year.  The Wildcats will return to action on Sunday, November 30th when they travel to Brown University for a non-conference contest at 4:00 p.m.
