Bearcats reach century mark in win over Penn State-Fayette

The Saint Vincent Bearcats had four players score in double figures as the team defeated the Penn State-Fayette Lions, 100-83.
 
It was a high scoring first half for the Bearcats, with senior Sean Kett scoring the first bucket, off a layup, at the 19:07 mark. Fayette took a 9-7 lead until junior guard JC Howard hit his first three of the night to take a 10-9 lead with 17:09 left in the first half.
 
SVC never trailed again in the first half, as JC Howard continued to heat up, hitting his third trey of the night at the 14:15 mark.  Junior Bobby Swartwout would replicate Howard on the next possession, hitting a three of his own, while SVC's lead grew to 25-14.
 
Junior Geoff FuQuay entered the game and immediately got into the action, driving to the hoop and finishing to make the score 36-25 with 7:08 left in the first half.  At the 4:33 mark, SVC went on a 7-0 run, highlighted by three pointers from Swartwout and Jaylon Bell.
 
Saint Vincent took a comfortable 56-39 lead into the locker room, led by Howard's 15 points.
 
The Bearcats started right where they left off, with junior Pat Jones scoring on a fast break layup to make the score 58-39 with 18:41 left in the game.  At the 14:04 mark, SVC's lead would increase to 20 as Kett was fouled scoring a layup; he would hit the free throw growing the bearcat's lead to 70-50 SVC.
 
SVC continued the scoring with 11:00 left in the second half, as junior Dan Sinwell hit a long 2 to make the score 76-56 Saint Vincent.  Teams would trade baskets on the next two possessions but the SVC lead would continue to grow with just over 5 minutes left to play, as Sinwell hit a corner trey off of a FuQuay inbound pass.
 
The Bearcats would finish strong; hitting the 100-point mark as Tom Weremeychik would score on a last minute free throw sealing Saint Vincent's 100-83 victory.  SVC shot an astonishing 55 percent from the field, with Howard scoring 17 points along with 5 assists.  Swartwout scored a career-high 16, while grabbing 8 rebounds.  Kett rounded out the scoring for the Bearcats, scoring 15 points and hauling in 8 rebounds of his own.
 
Senior Matt McKenna, who scored 29 points and snatched 6 rebounds, led PSU-Fayette scoring.  SVC (3-3) continues play next Wednesday, December third, opening PAC play against Bethany College.
