Berry loses opener at Mount Saint Joseph

CINCINNATI, OHIO – Owen Jacobs came off the bench to record a game-high 28 points, but Berry College dropped its season opener, 87-72, at the College of Mount Saint Joseph on Friday night.

Jacobs was 10-17 from the field and grabbed eight rebounds. Teammate Caleb Johnson added 15 points and four assists for BC.

The Vikings led in rebounds, 40-33. The Lions shot 53-percent (28-53) to Berry's 42-percent (24-58). BC committed 16 and forced 14 turnovers.

Femi Thompson scored 20 points and led five Lion players in double digits.

The Vikings (0-1) close out play at the College of Mount Saint Joseph Tip-Off  Tournament on Sunday when Berry plays Albion College at 3 p.m.
