Following a successful senior season on the hardcourt, Middlebury College men's basketball player Joey Kizel (Short Hills, N.J.) has been named a second-team All-District honoree by the National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC) and a second-team All-Region recipient by D3hoops.com. The postseason laurels are the first from the organizations of Kizel's career.

Earlier this month, Kizel was selected as a first-team All-NESCAC honoree. The senior captain helped lead the team to a record of 17-9 this past winter and advanced to the NESCAC Tournament semifinals with a home quarterfinal win against Hamilton in Pepin Gym.

Kizel is now a three-time first-team All-NESCAC selection. A D3hoops.com preseason All-American pick following his 2013 Honorable Mention All-American laurel, he led the team in scoring at 16.6 points per game. His 5.6 assists per game also lead the team and rank him second in the NESCAC. Kizel paced the squad and ranked fourth in the conference with his 1.8 steals per game. Starting all 26 games this winter for the Panthers, Kizel scored in double digits in 22 times. He poured in 20 or more points eight times, including tying his career high with 30 points on February 7th victory over Colby.

He tied a career high with six made three-pointers in his final career game against Williams last Saturday. The fourth-year Panther also tallied career bests this season in assists with 12 against St. Joseph's on January 23rd, while pulling down 12 rebounds on February 14th at Trinity.

The three-year starter concludes his Middlebury career with his name sprinkled throughout the all-time record books. His 1,493 career points place him fourth, while his 43.8% (159-363) three-point percentage sits atop the Panther record books. Kizel's 137 made free throws this winter and combined 432 makes are the second-most in a single season and a career, respectively. He will graduate with the program's top career free throw percentage (432-528, 81.8%). His 146 assists this season are the third-most in program history, while his 487 career helpers sit second.
