Kevin Clifford, Brian Nigro To Participate In Playing Hoops With Heroes Tournament

Riverdale, N.Y. – College of Mount Saint Vincent Head Women's Basketball Coach Kevin Clifford and Head Men's Basketball Coach Brian Nigro '00 will each coach a team of United States Military members on May 22 in the Playing Hoops With Heroes Tournament. The event will be held at John Jay College.

 

Playing Hoops with Heroes is a 3-on-3 basketball tournament in support of 2014 New York City Fleet Week, the Bob Woodruff Foundation and USO Metropolitan New York. Teams in the tournament will be made up of members of the United States Air Force, Army, Navy, Marine Corps. and Coast Guard as well as members of the New York Police and Fire Departments and he New York Port Authority.

 

"I am extremely excited about being part of this event," said Nigro. He continued, "I am honored and humbled to have a chance to coach these brave men and women who serve and protect our country."

 

The tournament will feature eight teams competing in a double elimination 3-on-3 tournament with coaches set to share a meal with active duty military members following play. Currently, Clifford is set to coach a team made up of United State Marine Corps. members, while Nigro will guide a team consisted of United States Navy members.
