St. Louis, Mo., March 8, 2014 – No. 24-ranked Calvin College forced 19 turnovers and withstood a late rally to post an 83-75 win over No. 2 Washington University in St. Louis in the second round of the 2014 NCAA Division III Men's Basketball Championship Saturday night at the WU Field House in St. Louis.

Cooney's second three of the half started a 9-0 run for Washington U. that cut the lead to 19-18. Aboona gave the Bears their first lead of the game (23-22) with 9:01 before half after a three from the wing.

After another turnover on the offensive end by the Bears, Calvin's Mickey DeVries scored on an open layup to make it a 13-point deficit (58-45) forcing a timeout by Washington U. with 10:39 to play.

Brink answered with his third three of the game on the ensuing play to get the lead back to seven.

"All year we had a mentality of never backing down and that is how we entered the game tonight," said Aboona. "Calvin was a tough team and they hit their shots and made their free throws."
