GENESEO, N.Y. - SUNY Geneseo senior guard Connor Fedge scored a game-high 22 points while senior forward Jordan Jones added 14 points to lead the Knights past Oneonta, 79-67, in the semifinals of the State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) Men's Basketball Tournament, Tuesday.

Third-seeded Geneseo (21-5) advances to Friday's semifinals to face second-seeded Plattsburgh at 6:00 p.m. The game will be hosted by top-seeded Brockport, which plays fourth-seeded Oswego in the other semifinal at 8:00 p.m.

Senior forward Matt Curry scored 12 points while junior forward Devon Anderson pitched in with 10 points. Both also grabbed five rebounds as Geneseo built a 37-29 rebounding advantage by the end of the night, including a 21-12 edge in the first half.

"Our rebounding was a big deal tonight, especially in the first half, as we were able to keep them from getting a lot of second chances," said head coach Steve Minton. "Jordan brought amazing energy and had a tremendous all-around game. Connor came through with some clutch baskets late, while I also thought Devon stood out with an impressive game inside. (Junior guard Andy Drescher) came through with some big baskets as well that helped us get out to a sizeable lead in the early going."

Leading by one, 6-5, at 13:58, Geneseo would take control of the game with a 20-4 run to lead, 26-9, with 5:58 on the first-half clock. Following a Red Dragon basket 17 second later, the Knights would go on a 13-0 tear over the next three minutes to build their largest lead of the game, 39-11, with 3:09 to play in the half en route to a 28-point lead, 43-15, at halftime. Oneonta was limited to 6-of-27 shooting in the first 20 minute of play, as well as only four offensive rebounds.

In the second half, the Red Dragons would re-group, eventually cutting the Geneseo lead to eight points with under five minutes to play, but the Knights would secure their third first-round tournament victory in as many years down the stretch.

Oneonta's Jack Dignan and Mikey McElroy each totaled 19 points, despite being held to four and five points, respectively, in the first half. After being held to 22.2-percent shooting in the first half, the Red Dragons bounced back to connect on 51.4 percent of their shots in the second.
