STATEN ISLAND, NY --- The City College of New York men's basketball team fell 97-70 at the College of Staten Island on Sunday afternoon. The Beavers of CCNY are now 7-17 overall and 3-12 in the CUNYAC while the conference-leading Dolphins of CSI improve to 22-2 and 15-0 within the league.
Lareik Taylor came off the bench to lead CCNY with 16 points, matching his season high. Taylor also added four rebounds and two steals, all while making seven of his 13 shots. Manfred Cadet scored 13 points while dishing out five assists with four rebounds and two steals. Jordan Ortega pulled down a game-high ten rebounds and scored 11 points on just seven shots. Nathan Lopez added nine points, all coming off of three-pointers. Brandon Reeves had a solid game off the bench, with six points, six rebounds and a team-high three steals.
Will Fonseca led the Dolphins with 18 points and nine rebounds, shooting seven-of-ten from the floor. Jon Chadwich-Myers contributed 18 points on eight shots with two blocks. Kevin King finished with 12 points and two blocks while Bloochy Magloire added 11 points, three assists and three steals.
After a rough first half left CCNY down 51-22, the Beavers refused to quit, outscoring CSI 48-46 after the break.
CCNY will wrap up their regular season on Tuesday when they travel to Lehman College on Tuesday for a 7:30 p.m. game.
