Senior Pedro Perez had a big game as the Albright College men's basketball team pulled away from Hood College, 82-62 in the Bollman Center on Wednesday.

Perez had 13 points and nine rebounds in the first half alone, turning in a final line of 23 points, 12 boards, four assists and five steals. Senior Kyle Jordan totaled nine points, 10 rebounds and six blocks.

The classmates moved closer to the 1,000-point milestone together, as Jordan sits at 990 career points and Perez moves to 981 with three games remaining in the regular season.

Albright also moved a game ahead of Lebanon Valley for fifth place in the Commonwealth Conferece, after the Dutchmen let a 12-point second half lead slip in a 65-63 loss at Lycoming. The Lions (8-7) are one game back of fourth-place Hood (9-6) in the league ladder.

Senior Sam Marrella picked Cameron Cook's pocket and scored to get Albright on the board. Perez blocked a shot on the fast break and released the other way following a foul for a 12-8 Lion lead.

Perez' three-pointer gave him 11 of Albright's first 15 points and put the hosts ahead 15-8. Jordan opened his scoring with a dunk that made it 17-10.

Justin Bowens recovered a loose ball and fed Cade Woody for a three-pointer that kept the Blazers down just 20-18. Albright led 30-26 at halftime after Cameron Cook banked in a 30-footer at the buzzer.

Sameen Swint scored four points in the opening 69 seconds of the second half, and Marrella's transition three-pointer put Albright up 39-31. Cameron Cook and Trevor Magnuski hit triples to keep Hood close.

Albright finally opened things up midway through the second period. Two free throws from Evan Ward pushed the gap to 59-46; Ward then poked a pass away and took a feed from Perez on the break for a 61-46 lead. A nice baseline move from Jordan gave the Lions a 63-46 advantage.

Cameron Cook and Chris Cook each totaled a team-high 14 points for the visitors. Albright is 12-10 overall, 8-7 in the Commonwealth, and travels to Stevenson on Saturday at 1 p.m.
