GENESEO, N.Y. - SUNY Geneseo senior guard Connor Fedge scored a team-high 20 points, including the 1,000th of his career, to lead the Knights to a 81-73 victory over Oswego in State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) men's basketball, Tuesday.

Junior forward Gordon Lyons compiled 16 points and 13 rebounds to notch his 10th double-double of the season, while senior forward Devon Anderson tallied 16 points and junior forward James McKenna added 14 to extend the Knights winning streak to eight games.

"In the first half, our interior players did a great job of scoring and rebounding and Oswego had a hard time matching up down low," said head coach Steve Minton. "That carried us into the second half where Connor led the attack from the perimeter to help us salt the game away."

Five lead changes and four ties comprised a back-and-forth first half until the Knights turned a two-point deficit, 27-25, into a 13-point halftime lead with a 21-6 outburst over the final 6:12. Anderson led the way with seven points during the run as Geneseo led, 46-33, after 20 minutes of action.

Geneseo (14-2, 8-1 SUNYAC) would outscore the Lakers, 9-4, to start the second half to build an 18-point lead, 55-37, with 15:31 on the clock. Oswego would pull within 10, 63-53, with 8:22 remaining, but Geneseo would score seven unanswered points, including six points by Anderson, to reclaim a 70-53 edge with 7:02 to play.

The Lakers would get back within 12 points, 73-61, at 3:28 on three of Elijah McLaurin's team-high 20 points, but Fedge would convert four clutch free throws in back-to-back trips to the line, including his milestone point on the back end of the first two attempts, to keep the visitors at bay. Fedge would lead all scorers with 16 points in the second half, including 8-of-10 free throws, as the Knights extended their longest winning streak since starting the 2007-08 season with nine-straight victories.

Continued Minton, "Connor is one of the hardest workers I've ever coached. He's always put a lot of hard work in during the offseason to elevate his game in areas you don't get credit for in the box score every night. Without a doubt the best athlete I've ever coached, he has been a joy to have on the team for the last four years."

Fedge is the 23rd player in program history to score 1,000 career points and the first since Jeff Howe '09 did it during the 2008-09 campaign. Fedge is seven points shy of surpassing John Kleis '04 for 22nd-place on Geneseo's all-time scoring list and is only 19 points short of moving into the top-20.

The Knights will travel to No. 20 Brockport on Saturday for an 8:00 p.m. tip-off with first-place in the SUNYAC on the line. The Golden Eagles improved to 9-0 in the league with an 89-71 victory over Cortland in the night's other action.
