James Oshkeshequoam (Sr.-Keshena, Wis.) scored 22 points and Justin Ward (Sr.-Wisconsin Dells, Wis.) added a double-double with 20 points and 14 rebounds as the Lakeland College men's basketball team rolled to a 96-81 victory over Concordia University Chicago Saturday afternoon.

The Muskies won their Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference opener, continuing their proficient offensive pace early in the season by scoring at least 90 points for the fourth time in five games. Lakeland also won its third straight game and improved to 4-1 overall this season.

Lakeland shot 50% from the field (28 of 56) and also hit 34 of 45 free throw attempts (75.6%). The Muskies also finished with five players scoring in double figures in a game they never trailed in.

Lakeland led comfortably most of the game, using a 7-0 run midway through the first half to build a 24-11 lead and never letting the margin slip below 11 the rest of the way. The Muskies led 42-28 at halftime and by as many as 21 in the second half.

The Cougars (0-3 overall, 0-2 NACC) continued to battle, though, and Lakeland left itself plenty to continue to work on to improve. Concordia shot 46.5% from the floor (33 of 71) and also grabbed 13 offensive rebounds as both teams finished with 40 rebounds.

Oshkeshequoam scored efficiently, making 7 of 11 shots from the field and 7 of 8 from the free throw line. He also scored 16 of his 22 points in the second half, while Joey Burris (Jr.-Kiel, Wis.) also added 14 of his 16 points in the second half.

Ward finished 7 of 13 from the floor and cleaned the defensive glass, with 13 of his 14 boards on the defensive end. He also added two steals and a pair of blocks.

Brandon Hagenow (So.-Sussex, Wis.) and Stan McKenzie (Sr.-Racine, Wis.) also scored in double figures with 12 and 11 points, respectively. Both also spent their share of time at the foul line, with Hagenow converting 7 of 7 from the stripe and McKenzie making 7 of 11.

Brandon Stinson led Concordia with 19 points and added nine rebounds. Mike Walmer scored 15, Marcus Elston added 14 points and a team-high 11 rebounds and Nat Pearson added 12 points to give the Cougars four players in scoring in double figures.

Lakeland takes to the road Tuesday night to face Wisconsin Lutheran College on the road at 7 p.m. in Milwaukee.
