LeTourneau sophomore Ladaria Brown and senior Justin Jones of the men's basketball team each had a double double in a 74-62 loss to the University of the Ozarks on Thursday evening at Solheim Arena.

The YellowJackets (3-14, 2-12 ASC) held the Eagles to 40.4% (23-for-57) shooting but it was the success at the free-throw line that proved to be the difference. Ozarks made 24 of 34 free throws compared to an 8-for-20 effort by LeTourneau.

It was the first time on the season that the YellowJackets had a pair of players with double double performances. Plus, it is the first time since LETU had three players achieve the feat in the 2012-13 season opener against Paul Quinn (Nov. 26, 2012). For Jones (11 points, 10 rebounds), it is his ninth double double – and for Brown, it is his third (24 points, 11 rebounds) double double of the season.

The Eagles (6-12, 4-11 ASC) – led from start to finish – and were led by Ricky Allen and Kelby Robinson, who each scored 15 and Josh Ferrell added 14 in the win.

LeTourneau rallied from an early eight-point deficit, 16-8 with 11:34 to play in the first half, to cut the deficit to one, 16-15 with 8:55 to go in the first 20 minutes. Ozarks answered the seven unanswered points by the YellowJackets with an 18-5 run to end the half. The run put the Eagles up by a 34-20 margin at the half.

Brown and Jones teamed up to bring the YellowJackets back in the second half. Brown scored 19 of his 24 and Jones scored nine of his 11. The duo worked together to cut the deficit to eight, 66-58, with 3:24 to play. However, LeTourneau would draw no closer as the Eagles made all six of its free throws down the stretch to seal the victory.

Next up for LeTourneau is a contest against area rival, the University of Texas-Tyler on Saturday at 3 p.m. in Solheim Arena.
