Jesse Regina Garners Skyline Conference Recognition

New York, N.Y. – College of Mount Saint Vincent freshman guard Jesse Regina (Staten Island, N.Y.) has been named the Skyline Conference Rookie of the Week in Men's Basketball it was announced by the league office on Monday afternoon. It is the first career weekly honor for Regina.

 

Regina had a strong all-around week for the Dolphins who split a pair of Skyline Conference games. The rookie guard averaged 10.5 points, 3.5 rebounds, 3.0 assists and 2.5 steals per game for the Mount. Regina shot 58.3-percent from the field overall in the two game stretch and posted a 66.7-percent conversion rate from three-point distance.

 

After knocking down three triples on his way to nine points and two rebounds on Wednesday at #13 Purchase, Regina closed the week with 12 points, five rebounds, four assists and three steals in a 78-68 home win over Old Westbury.

 

In the 10 point victory on against Old Westbury, Regina knocked in three more treys for the Dolphins as he matched his career-high with 12 points. For the week he went 6-for-9 from behind the arc and is now second on the team in three-point field goals made (18) and is converting at a 43.9-percent clip from bonus distance.

 

Following the 1-1 week, Mount Saint Vincent has won five of its last six games and stands at 6-13 overall and 4-8 in league play. The Dolphins will be back in action again for an important league tilt on Tuesday at Yeshiva. Tip-off with the Maccabees is set for 8:00 p.m.
