Atlanta, Ga., Febuary 2, 2014 – Junior guard David Fatoki scored all of his career-high 11 points off the bench in the second half to lead the No. 7-ranked Washington University in St. Louis men's basketball team to a 70-66 win at Emory University Sunday afternoon in Atlanta.

Fatoki, who entered the game with seven points in six conference games, hit a pair of key three-point shots and two free-throws in the second half after senior guard Alan Aboona picked up his fourth foul with 14:26 to play.

Washington U. improves to 16-2 overall and 7-0 in University Athletic Association (UAA) play, and extended its season-long win streak to 11 games. The Bears have a three-game lead over Case Western Reserve University, Emory and University of Chicago in the UAA standings with seven games to play.

Senior forward Chris Klimek scored 17 points and added nine rebounds in the win, while junior forward Matt Palucki had 12 points and 11 rebounds. The double-double for Palucki was his fifth of the season and ninth of his career. Aboona added 11 points, a season-high seven rebounds and four assists, while senior guard Tim Cooney had 10 points.

Washington U. shot 39.6 percent (19-48) from the field and hit 26-of-33 from the foul line in the win. The Bears outrebounded Emory 42-40, but committed a season-high 20 turnovers.

Washington U.'s defense clamped down early in the contest with the UAA's leading scorer Jake Davis on the bench after picking up his second foul three minutes into the contest. The Bears limited Emory to 1-of-9 shooting to start the contest, and a three-pointer from Cooney made it 9-4 with 14:26 left in the half.

Washington U. took it largest lead of the half with 11:06 to play after sophomore guard Luke Silverman-Lloyd canned a three-pointer from the corner after checking into the game off the bench. Emory answered right back with a 9-0 run to tie the score at 20-20 and forced a full timeout by WUSTL.

With two of Washington U.'s starters in foul trouble, Edwards leaned on the bench for the final five minutes as 12 of 14 players saw action in the opening half. A tip-in by Palucki with 4:06 left ignited a 12-2 run as Washington U. took a 35-28 lead to half. The Bears connected on 12-of-13 from the foul line in the half, including eight-straight in the final 3:13.

WUSTL limited Emory to 30.3 percent (10-33) shooting in the half, including 2-of-13 from beyond the arc. Palucki had nine points and six boards to lead Washington U., who had 13 turnovers in the first half.

Fatoki entered the game after Aboona's fourth foul and made an immediate impact as his 15-foot floater with 13:44 left gave Washington U. its largest lead of the game at 46-36. Emory answered with an 8-0 run to make it 46-44.

Fatoki, who entered the game with four threes made on the season, canned back-to-back threes to make it 53-46 with 9:46 to play. He added a pair of free-throws after Klimek was fouled and headed to the bench to make it 57-54. Emory would get as close as one (57-56), but the Bears put the game out of reach with an 8-1 run.

Davis led the Eagles with 15 points, while McPherson Moore (14 points) and Michael Florin (10 points, six assists) also scored in double figures. Emory shot a season-low 33.3 percent (25-25) from the field, including 20.7 percent (6-29) from beyond the arc.

Washington U. returns home to host the University of Rochester Friday, Feb. 7, at 8 p.m., and Emory Sunday, Feb. 9, at Noon. The 18th Annual William Greenleaf Eliot Society Family Night will take place Friday, while Sunday's game will be part of Youth Day.
