William Paterson Men’s Basketball Secures 88-75 Victory at Rowan

GLASSBORO, N.J. – Three Pioneers combined for 70 points to help lead William Paterson (15-5, 9-4 NJAC) to an 88-75 men's basketball victory at Rowan (9-11, 4-9 NJAC) Feb. 1.

 

Senior guard Javae King-Gilchrist (Teaneck, N.J./Teaneck) led all players with 26 points, adding nine rebounds, while junior guard Jaques Conceicao (Massama-Lisboa, Portugal/Francais Charle Lepierre) had a double-double with 23 tallies and 13 rebounds. Junior guard Sandy Burgos (Fort Lee, N.J./Fort Lee) contributed 21 points and freshman guard Zach Frick (Sparta, N.J./Sparta) had nine.

 

WP led by as many as 15 (40-25, 5:18) before carrying a 45-34 advantage into the locker room after draining seven of 13 (.538) three-pointers during the opening stanza. An 18-4 Prof run to start the second stanza pushed the home team ahead by a 52-49 count eight minutes in, but William Paterson scored 26 of the next 32 points during a 6:30 span (75-58, 5:31) to take control of the contest.

 

The Pioneers finished 10-for-20 (.500) from behind the arc and 12-for-13 (.923) from the free-throw line.

 

Senior guard Rich McNamara led Rowan with 18 points and 10 rebounds, and classmate Tim McDaniels scored 15 points.

 

William Paterson will host Rutgers-Newark Wednesday, Feb. 5, at 6:00 p.m.
