The Scots rewarded their loyal fans with a 71-67 overtime victory over the Hamline Pipers at the Leonard Center, out-scoring their guests 9-5 in the extra session. Shooting 45% for the day, including 8-for-22 on three-pointers, the Scots gain their second MIAC win, moving to 3-16 overall and 2-12 in conference play. The Pipers, who beat the Scots four weeks ago at Hamline, fall to 8-11 overall and 5-9 in the MIAC.
Hamline drilled a pair of free throws with :44 left in regulation to tie the score at 62-62 and force OT, finishing a rally which brought HU back from 11 points down at 51-40 with 9:45 left in the half. The Scots scored the first two points of overtime on a Kareem Ismail (Fy., Pasadena, Calif. / Flintridge Prep) jumper and another Ismail basket made the tally 66-64 with 1:20 remaining. Dylan Kilgour (So., La Crescenta, Calif. / Crescenta Valley) sank a pair of free throws with :10 to play to make the lead four and put things away.
Four Scots reached double figures in scoring, led by Ismail with 14 to go along with four blocked shots. Kilgour netted 13 points and dished out five assists. Bert Yaffe (Jr., Bethesda, Md. / Walter Johnson) provided his team with 11 points and Griffin Glatt (So., Summit, N.J. / Newark Academy) just missed out on a double-double with his 10-point, nine-rebound performance. Sager Moritzky (Fy., San Juan Capistrano, Calif. / St. Margaret's Episcopal) handed out five assists and scored seven points.
Hamline was led by Dior Ford with 26 points and 10 boards, and Marshall Jestings with 18 points and five assists. HU fought for 18 offensive rebounds.
Mac led 34-22 in points in the paint and 15-8 in bench scoring. The Scots enjoyed a 15-8 turnover advantage.
