CASTINE, Maine -- Castleton defeated Maine Maritime 104-68 in a North Atlantic Conference men's basketball game Saturday. The Spartans improved to 12-7 overall, 10-2 NAC, while the Mariners dropped to 1-16, 0-11.
Kyle Boucher recorded a double-double for Maine Maritime with 14 points and 12 rebounds. Jason Hatch, Tyler Gilson and Brad Reed each scored nine points for the Mariners.
Castleton had six players reach double figures led by Logan White's 15 points. Carnelius Green posted 13 points, Cosrick McDonald 12, Steve Rosemond and Chad Copeland 11 each and Rob Coloutti 10. Rosemond pulled down a game-high 14 rebounds and Chad Pulver finished with 11 boards.
After a three from Green gave the Spartans a 20-11 lead with 11:03 left in the first half, the Mariners went on a 9-1 run to get within two, 21-19, with 9:13 left in the opener. Hatch, Boucher and Dylan Price each had two points in the run and Reed drained a three. Castleton answered with an 11-1 run to lead 32-20 with 6:54 left and led 53-32 at halftime.
Castleton led by double digits the rest of the game.
The Mariners return to action Tuesday hosting Husson at 7:30 p.m.
