Mules Beat Mariners

CASTINE, Maine -- Colby knocked off Maine Maritime 76-41 in a non-conference men's basketball game Tuesday. The Mules improved to 9-8, while the Mariners dropped to 1-15.

Kyle Boucher scored a team-high 13 points for Maine Maritime and Tyler Gilson added 10. Dylan Price grabbed a team-best six rebounds.

Ryan Jann pumped in a game-high 17 points and Sam Wilson added 15 for Colby. Chris Hudnut recorded a double-double for the Mules with 12 points and 11 rebounds and Patrick Stewart grabbed a game-high 14 rebounds.

Colby built a 21-15 lead after Sam Wilson's layup eight minutes into the game. The Mariners answered with six-straight points from Boucher to even the game at 21-21 with 8:55 left before the break. Layups from Luke Westman and Connor O'Neil  put the Mules ahead 25-21 before Boucher made it a two-point game with a bucket with 7:26 on the clock. 

Colby answered with 19-0 scoring run, spanning six minutes, to take a 44-23 lead with 1:53 left before the break. Jann highlighted the run for the Mules with nine points. Colby led 47-25 at halftime.

Colby built its lead to 30 points three times and led by as many as 35 in the second half.

The Mariners return to action Friday, 7:30 p.m., hosting Green Mountain.
