Riverdale, N.Y. – The College of Mount Saint Vincent Men's Basketball team returned to the Peter Jay Sharp Center after a four game road swing with a hard fought 77-61 conference win over Maritime to pick up its third straight victory. Junior Antonio Johnson (Fort Johnson, N.Y.) was one of four players in double-figures with a game and career-high 25 points.

In a tightly contested first half that featured three ties and two lead changes, neither team could get in front by more than seven points in the first 20 minutes. After falling behind in the early going by three after a Brendon Halligan triple, the Dolphins put together a 13-3 run over six minutes to jump in front 13-6. Johnson led the charge for the Dolphins with seven points in the run.

Mount Saint Vincent would maintain the lead until Halligan drained another triple at the 8:13 mark of the opening stanza that knotted the score at 16-16. The Dolphins quickly got the lead back on a Brandon Serrano (Hempstead, N.Y.) free-throw and moved the lead out to 23-18 after three made free-throws from Johnson at the 5:54 mark of the half.

Maritime would allow just three more Mount Saint Vincent points the rest of the period and held the Dolphins without a field goal over the last 7:20 of the first half to carry a slim 27-26 lead into the intermission. After a Jesse Regina (Staten Island, N.Y.) triple with 7:20 to play in the half, the Dolphins managed just six points from the free-throw line the rest of the way.

The Dolphins finished the first half shooting 26.1-percent overall and went 12-for-21 from the free-throw line. The Mount turned 12 Maritime turnovers into 15 first half points and was led by 12 tallies from Johnson in the first 20 minutes.

Gerard Fraser (Staten Island, N.Y.) got the Dolphins back in front with a conversion on his first touch of the second half before Maritime took its final lead of the game on a Liam Ryan triple with 18:17 to play in regulation.

Regina answered right back for the Dolphins to move them back in front 31-30 and start a 16-5 spurt that opened the lead up to 44-35 on a Johnson triple with 12:57 on the clock. The Dolphins missed just one field goal attempt and went 3-for-3 from behind the arc to open the advantage.

Mount Saint Vincent would hold the advantage the rest of the night after the Regina triple and allowed Maritime to within two points just twice the rest of the way. After a pair of free-throws from Bobby Parlow cut the Mount's lead to 55-53 with 6:41 to play, the Dolphins closed the game on a 22-8 run to take the final 16 point advantage. The Dolphins hit three triples over that stretch; one from Johnson to spread the lead from four to seven with 4:47 to play, one from Regina to move the lead to 13 with 3:16 to play and one from Winston Ensuncho (Fair Lawn, N.J.) to close out the scoring in the game.

After shooting under 30-percent in the first half, Mount Saint Vincent rebounded to shoot better than 57-percent in the second half to finish the game with a 42.9-percent conversion rate. The Dolphins went 6-for-9 from behind the arc after halftime and shot 44.4-percent from bonus distance on the night.

Johnson finished 6-for-16 from the floor, 4-for-9 from three point range and 9-for-10 from the free-throw line on his way to the career-high point total. He added four rebounds, three steals and an assist to the winning effort.

Regina went 4-for-7 from the floor, including three triples, on his way to matching his career-high with 12 points to go along with four rebounds. Fraser picked up his third double-double of the season after scoring 12 points and securing a game-high 12 rebounds. He also handed out three assists and swiped a pair of steals. Serrano used a nine free-throw makes to reach 11 points to go along with five boards and a pair of blocks.

The Dolphins also got a strong night from the bench with Kevin Henry (Yonkers, N.Y.) and Ensuncho each recording eight points. Ensuncho handed out three helpers in the win and Henry hauled in five rebounds and picked up a pair of steals.

Maritime was led by 21 points, eight rebounds and six assists from Sean Corley and got 13 bench points from T'Vaughn Gibson. Corley finished the game 5-for-8 from the field and 11-for-17 from the free-throw line.
