More news about: UW-Whitewater

Augsburg led just once in the opening minutes of the game but Whitewater regained and maintained the advantage through the rest of the game. A 10-2 run to close out the first half was capped by a Patrick Souter (Racine/St. Catherine's) layup that gave the Warhawks a nine point lead, 47-38, heading into the locker rooms.

The UW-W lead would fluctuate in single digits through the majority of the second half with Augsburg pulling to within one or two multiple times but each time the Warhawks would bear down and create a cushion. The largest lead was 11, 66-55 at the 13:28 mark after two Eric Bryson (Elkhorn/Elkhorn) free throws. Augsburg narrowed the margin to five points with less than three minutes in the game but UW-W solidified the win from the charity stripe with eight of the Warhawks' final 10 points of the game coming from the line.

Whitewater capitalized off of Augsburg turnovers scoring 27 points off of 18 giveaways. Both teams shot over 50% from the floor, Augsburg with the 59-54% advantage. AC was 9-17 (53%) from long range compared to Whitewater's 2-14 (14%) from downtown. UW-W made up the difference at the line with a 21-28 performance from the charity stripe compared to Augsburg's 14-20.

Five Warhawks scored double figures for the game led by Reggie Hearn (Milwaukee/Marshall) and Bryson with 16 each. Hearn posted a game high eight rebounds and Bryson went 8-10 in his trips to the free throw line. Steve Egan (Omro/Omro) added 15 points. Quardell Young (Kenosha/Bradford) recorded 14 points and a game high five assists and KJ Evans (Beloit/Beloit Memorial) added 14 to Whitewater's total.

UW-W will return to Whitewater for a 7:00 pm tipoff against Edgewood College December 30 in Kachel Gym.
