THE RUNDOWN
AUSTIN, Texas –
Dwayne Patterson scored 25 points, including 24 in the second half, and the Concordia University Texas men's basketball team overcame a 13-point halftime deficit to knock off No. 20 Mary Hardin-Baylor, 96-93, on Saturday afternoon at Concordia Fieldhouse.

The Tornados (5-2, 3-2 ASC) trailed 58-45 at halftime before taking over the contest.

Concordia Texas battled back and Patterson hit a layup with 13:33 left to cut the deficit to 66-63. However, the Cru (3-3, 1-2 ASC) increased their advantage to nine over the next three minutes.

Josh Sanchez and Jonathan Garza connected on back-to-back 3-pointers and trimmed the lead to 74-71 with 9:16 remaining.

After Mary Hardin-Baylor added a pair of free throws, Sanchez made a layup and drained a 3-pointer to tie the game at 76-all.

The two squads traded the next eight points before Patterson hit a free throw to give the Tornados an 81-80 lead and they never trailed again.

Patterson was 7-of-13 from the floor, including 1-for-4 beyond the arc. He also hit 10-of-13 shots from the charity stripe and grabbed nine rebounds in 36 minutes off the bench.

Sanchez netted a game high 27 points and handed out a career-high 10 assists. Andre Potts also had a career night with 24 points and 11 rebounds, including five on the offensive end.

Jerard Graham had 26 points to lead the Cru. Antonie Chaney added 21.

HIGHLIGHTS
• Concordia trailed by as much as 15 points in the game (58-43, 0:44 1st).
• Concordia shot a season-high 58.9 percent from the field. Today's contest also marked the first time this season the Tornados posted a higher shooting percentage than their opponents.
• Potts had his first career double-double with 24 points and a game-high 11 boards. He hit four 3-pointers and also had two assists.
• Sanchez also logged his first career double-double, as the Houston native tallied game highs of 27 points and 10 assists in 38 minutes of action. He also tied a career high by knocking down six 3-pointers.
• Today's win was the first at home for the Tornados against the Cru since Dec. 14, 2002. It also marked the first home win in the series at Concordia Fieldhouse and first under head coach Stan Bonewitz.
• Concordia trailed at halftime for the first time this season.
• The Tornados outscored Mary Hardin-Baylor's bench, 34-13.

STAT OF THE GAME
Dwayne Patterson scored 24 of his 25 points in the second half. The senior forward hit 7-of-10 shots from the field in the second half. He also knocked down 9-of-11 free throws and grabbed eight of his nine rebounds in the final period.

Concordia hits the road to play a non-conference game at Schreiner on Saturday, Dec. 21. It will be the final game of the 2013 portion of the season for the Tornados.
