William Paterson Men’s Basketball Cruises to 79-60 Win at Montclair State

MONTCLAIR, N.J. – Senior guard Javae King-Gilchrist (Teaneck, N.J./Teaneck) posted 21 points, six assists and five steals and the William Paterson men's basketball team (7-2, 4-1 NJAC) cruised to a 79-60 victory at Montclair State (2-6, 1-3 NJAC) Dec. 14.

 

Junior guard Jaques Conceicao (Massama-Lisboa, Portugal/Francais Charle Lepierre) had 14 tallies and eight rebounds, while junior guard Sandy Burgos (Fort Lee, N.J./Fort Lee) contributed 14 points. Sophomore guard Bright Mensah (Hackensack, N.J./Hackensack) finished with 11 tallies and eight boards, and freshman forward Nick Smith (Elmwood Park, N.J./Memorial) chipped in nine points and six rebounds.

 

The Pioneers held the Red Hawks to 20.0 (7-35) percent shooting en route to a 40-22 halftime advantage, and led by as many as 27, 56-29, six minutes into the second period. WP made 22 of its 25 (.880) free throws and owned a 24-6 edge in points scored off turnovers during the wire-to-wire victory.

 

Michael Spence led MSU with 13 points and 11 rebounds off the bench, and Angel Gonzalez collected 12 tallies.

 

William Paterson will host Arcadia Monday, Dec. 16, at 7:00 p.m.
