Senior guard Erik Tengwall scored a career-high 18 points and chipped in six steals as No. 12-ranked St. Thomas (5-1 overall, 3-0 MIAC) pulled away to a 75-52 victory over Hamline (3-4, 1-3) in Wednesday's MIAC men's basketball play at Schoenecker Arena.

Playing their first home game of 2013-14, the Tommies shot 51 percent from the floor and helped force 24 Piper turnovers.

UST stayed one-half game behind conference leader Gustavus (4-0). The Toms pushed their season win streak to five, their win streak against MIAC opponents to 13, and their home-court victory streak to 21.

Marcus Alipate scored 12 points; Zach Riedeman had 11 points and four steals; and Conner Nord added nine points.

Dior Ford recorded 17 points to lead the Pipers.

St. Thomas plays at home Saturday night against Bethany Lutheran.
