CHICAGO – Albion shot 56 percent from the field in earning a 68-58 victory over North Park in non-league men's basketball action.

It's the second time Albion has shot better than 50 percent in a game this season. Albion hit 60 percent (29-of-48) in a win at Wabash (Ind.) in November.

Albion led for all but the first minute of the contest. Jordan Herron produced a pair of layups, Ryan Watson added a layup and Lawrence Ridgell knocked down a 3-point shot to give the Britons a 9-3 lead.

Albion scored on three consecutive possessions – Travell Oakes scored a layup and Ridgell tacked on a layup and a 3-point shot – to lead 19-10 midway through the first half. The margin was whittled down to two on a couple of occasions late in the first half, but Albion never surrendered the lead.

Herron and Watson knocked down shots and Vince Hill sank a pair of free throws as Albion extended the lead to double digits, 34-24, less than four minutes into the second half. Albion led by at least five the rest of the way.

Watson was 3-of-4 from the field and 9-of-11 from the free throw line in achieving a career-high 16 points. Ridgell, who was 6-of-10 from the field, contributed 15 points. Herron, who made all four of his shots from the field and both of his opportunities from the free throw line finished with 10 points.

North Park's Juwan Henry led all players with 21 points.

Albion, 5-2 overall, continues non-league play with a Dec. 13 game at Kenyon (Ohio) College.
