Freshman Sameen Swint pulled the Albright College men's basketball team back into the game midway through the second half and then hit the game-winner with seven seconds remaining, as the Albright College men's basketball defeated Arcadia 85-84 on Wednesday.
Swint finished with a game-high 19 points on 7-of-14 shooting. He drove from right corner and finished on Albright's final possession to give the Lions the victory.
Arcadia had a great chance to tie at the buzzer as Joe Brown's put-back attempt off Aaron Lee-Webb's missed jumper was just short.
With Albright trailing 64-57 at the midway point of the second half, Swint scored seven straight to pull his team level. After making two free throws, he pulled down a defensive rebound and hit a jumper at the other end.
Swint then came up a steal and took it the other way for a three-point play that tied the game. The rookie was the only person on the floor to score over a stretch of nearly three minutes.
The entire Albright starting lineup was in double-figures, with seniors Kyle Jordan (16 points), Pedro Perez (12 points) and Sam Marrella (11 points) all contributing. Sophomore center Calvert Gantz had 10 points, eight rebounds and six blocked shots.
The Red and White trailed early in the game but a good take from Devin Brown got them back to within four at 20-16. Reuel Moore's steal and lay-in soon tied the contest at 20-20.
Perez' three-pointer evened things up again at 34-all, and freshman Josh Marquez hit a transition jumper late in the first half as Albright went to the locker room with a 39-38 advantage.
Travis Saltus and Brown had 19 points each for Arcadia, while Brown added 11 rebounds for a double-double.
Albright improves to 2-3 and 1-1 in the Commonwealth Conference ahead of a big road game at local rival, and defending league champion, Alvernia University on Saturday.
