Greencastle, Ind. - DePauw senior Pat Haggin scored 22 points including 18 of DePauw's 36 in the second half to lead the Tigers to a 66-51 North Coast Athletic Conference win over visiting Denison. 

The 24th-ranked Tigers improved to 5-1 overall and 2-0 in NCAC play, while the Big Red dropped to 2-4 overall and 0-1 in league play.

The hosts built an early six-point advantage before Denison scored eight straight to take its first lead of the contest at 12-10 with 11:11 left in the opening half. Late in the half, DePauw's Tommy Fernitz hit a pair of free throws and a layup before Adam Botts knocked in a three to give the Tigers a 25-19 lead on the way to a 30-27 halftime margin.

The teams battled back and forth during the early stages of the second half before Denison matched its biggest lead of the game at 40-37 on Patrick Keller's layup with 15:34 left. The Tigers scored the next seven and still held a four-point advantage when Alex Longi converted a three-point play with 8:24 left. 

That, however, would be the Big Red's final field goal of the game as the Tigers scored 15 straight to take control. During that stretch Denison missed four field goal tries and committed seven turnovers.

Haggin's 22 led all scorers and he nailed all four of his three-point tries. Fernitz followed with 16 and a game-high nine rebounds, while Bradley Fey and Michael Wilkison each dished out three assists.

Brad Woolgard paced Denison with 16 points with Keller grabbing six rebounds and Longi handing out four assists.

The Tigers shot 46.3 percent from the floor and hit 8-of-18 three-pointers, while the Big Red connected on just 37.0 percent. DePauw also held a 37-27 edge on the boards for a 14-2 lead in second-chance points. Denison turned the ball over 21 times to DePauw's 19, but the Tigers outscored the Big Red, 30-12, in points off of those turnovers.

DePauw returns to NCAC action on Saturday when it travels to Wooster for a 3 p.m. contest.
