The Albright College men's basketball team advanced to the ECAC South semifinals and will host the final rounds, following a 67-55 victory over McDaniel on Wednesday in the Bollman Center.

The Lions will now host LaRoche College on Saturday at 3 p.m., while DeSales will play Juniata at 1 p.m. in the other semifinal. The ECAC South championship will be held on Sunday at 2 p.m. in the Bollman Center.

Freshman Evan Ward, just recently inserted into the playing rotation, made 4-of-6 shots to finish with 11 points and seven rebounds. Senior Dave Singleton had 12 points, 12 rebounds, five assists and four steals.

Pedro Perez had a game-high 18 points on 7-of-15 shooting. Junior Kyle Jordan added 10 points and eight boards, while senior Zach Benjamin had 10 points and six rebounds.

The Lions led 33-20 at the half after holding McDaniel to 24.1% (7-of-29) shooting from the floor. The Green Terror made just one of seven attempts from behind the arc in the first period.

Perez swished a three early from Singleton's assist to make it 11-8 Albright. Singleton then stole a pass in the backcourt and was fouled, making one of two freebies to keep the Lions ahead, 12-10.

McDaniel's Evan Pupelis attacked the Lions in the post early, scoring to make it 14-12 Albright. Reuel Moore soon slapped away a pass and took it the other way for a 18-14 scoreline.

Nick Chia stole the ball and was fouled hard but still converted a nice basket on the break. He was bleeding, but Nic Martin came in to complete the three-point play and keep McDaniel close at 18-15.

Martin sank two more free throws the next time down the floor, but Albright went on a run late in the first half, highlighted by Perez' three-pointer that stretched the gap to double-digits.

After the Green Terror got to within single-digits midway through the second half, Ward scored a basket, then tied up a player at the other end for a steal. He followed that with an offensive rebound that led to Moore's free throw and a 47-35 scoreline, then finished off Singleton's pass to make it 49-37.

After driving for two, McDaniel's Andrew Merlo was fouled while shooting a triple, completing the four-point play to cut the lead to 51-45. Ward answered with a big three-point play at the other end however.

Singleton had an absurd assist with 2:10 to play, hitting Perez through traffic with a no-look, wrap-around pass that gave the Red and White a 62-49 lead.

Albright improves to 21-6 on the season, and is two wins away from the program's second ECAC title. McDaniel concludes its 2012-13 campaign at 14-12. The Green Terror continue a playoff victory drought that dates back to 1961.
