Brooklyn Tops CCNY 78-65 in Regular Season Finale

New York, NY --- The Brooklyn College Men's Basketball team concluded the 2012-2013 regular season with a 78-65 victory over the Beavers of the City College of New York (CCNY) in a City University of New York Athletic Conference (CUNYAC) match up on Tuesday evening at Nat Holman Gymnasium on the campus of CCNY.

With the win, BC moves to 11-13 overall on the season and 9-7 in the CUNYAC. Brooklyn will be the #4 seed in the upcoming CUNYAC/Con Edison Men's Basketball Championships, which begin this Sunday, February 17th with the quarterfinal round.

CCNY falls to 10-15 overall on the year and 6-10 in conference play.

Leading the way for the Bulldogs was senior Jeffrey Noel who poured in a game-high 23 points on 9-for-13 shooting from the field, including going 2-for-4 from three and 3-for-4 from the line. Freshman Egzon Gjonbalaj filled up the stat sheet adding 15 points, six rebounds, three steals and three blocks; while senior Steven Grant chipped in with 15 points and six rebounds. Senior Kavon Baker finished with 11 points, four assists and three steals and freshman Shayne Martinez contributed with nine points, five rebounds and four assists.

For CCNY, Jordan Ortega and Terence Johnston each finished with 15 points and six rebounds. Paul Dail added 11 points, six assists and six rebounds. Zachary Heiss also grabbed six rebounds, to go with eight points.

BC shot 49% (27-55) from the field for the game and 36% (5-14) from beyond the arc. From the free throw line, the Bulldogs shot 79% (19-24).

CCNY shot 40% (25-62) from the field, but shot just 20% (4-20) from three. The Beavers shot 73% (11-15) from the charity stripe. CCNY held a slim rebounding edge, 35-34.

With the regular season now behind them, Brooklyn will look to begin its quest for a CUNYAC Championship, as the Bulldogs will play host to the #5 seeded Cougars of Medgar Evers College this Sunday, February 17th at the West Quad Center. Tip-off is scheduled for 1:00 pm.
