Hampden-Sydney Pulls Away From Eagles

HAMPDEN-SYDNEY, ,Va. - Conference-leading Hampden-Sydney jumped out to an 11-2 lead and pulled away from the Bridgewater College Eagles for a 95-49 victory in ODAC men's basketball action Saturday afternoon.

Fletcher Lumpkin opened the scoring for the Tigers with a short jumper before Matthew Hunter hit two free throws for Bridgewater, tying the score at 2-2.

The Tigers then took control with a 9-0 run. Two more buckets by Lumpkin and a layup by Leon Hargrove made the score 8-2. Keegan Wetzel then scored from beyond the arc for an 11-2 Hampden-
Sydney lead.

The Eagles were within seven, 13-6, when Ed Reddick scored on a short jumper. The Tigers then pulled away with a 14-0 run to take a 27-6 lead with 12:46 left in the half.

Hampden-Sydney continued to control the action and led 51-16 at the end of the first half.

Aaron Adams was the lone Bridgewater player in double figures as he finished the game with 10 points. Bridgewater shot just 33 percent from the floor and turned the ball over 21 times.

Harrison George led the Tigers with 20 points and Kodie Critzer added 15. Hampden-Sydney shot 53.7 percent from the floor, including 13-of-25 from 3-point range.

The Eagles, now 13-10 overall and 7-7 in the ODAC, return to action Wednesday evening when they travel to Harrisonburg for a rivalry matchup with Eastern Mennonite.
