STEUBENVILLE, OH - The Medaille College men's basketball team used a dominant performance in the paint and on the glass to cruise past AMCC foe Franciscan University (83-62) this afternoon in a conference road matchup.  It was Medaille's third straight victory.

The Mavs outrebounded the Barons (37-22) and pulled down (15) offensive boards while limiting Franciscan to just (2).  The Mavs also outscored the host team (40-20) in the paint.  The most remarkable stat was that Medaille committed just nine fouls in the win and the Barons were a mere (1 for 2) from the charity stripe.  On the flipside, the Mavs knocked down (14 of 15) free throw attempts which helped seal Franciscan's fate.

The Mavs were once again led by sophomore Jammal Coleman who paced all scorers with (20) points on (8 of 11) shooting from the floor.  Coming off the bench to spark the Mavs was Robby Seyler who knocked down (6 of 10) field goal attempts en route to a (16) point afternoon.  Senior Tyler Stevens continues to inch his way up the all-time three pointers made list as he added three more to his career total, bringing him to (160), one shy of moving into a tie for third place on that list.  He finished with (11) points on the day and matched a team high with (3) assists.

Sophomore Alex Baron attacked the glass and finished with (8) rebounds, (5) of which came off the offensive boards.  While teammate Putter Brown gathered in (6) caroms while going (2 for 3) from the floor for (4) points.  The Mavs turned some of those offensive rebounds into (11) second chance points while holding Franciscan scoreless in that category.

The Medaille defense forced the Barons into (19) turnovers which they turned into (28) points on the other end of the floor.  The Mavs led by as many as (26) points late in the game as they cruised home to victory.

The win improves their record to (15-8) overall while they remain in the hunt for an AMCC title with a (12-4) conference mark.  The mavs will head to Pitt-Bradford on Wednesday (2/13) to face the Panthers in a crucial AMCC tilt.
