CINCINNATI – Logan Wolfrum became the all-time leading scorer for the Defiance College men's basketball program during the school's NCAA Division III era and ended with 18 points in DC's 77-63 win at Mount St. Joseph on Saturday afternoon.

Wolfrum started the game on fire, drilling four three-point shots in the opening minutes to push the Jackets to a 15-12 lead. The Defiance, Ohio, native would not strike again until the closing minutes of the game, using a layup at the 6:11 mark to join DC's exclusive 1,700-point club and scoring another hoop at the 5:48 mark to tie Chad Kahle (1996-2000) with 1,703 career points.

The record would slide to Wolfrum 34 seconds later, as the senior guard knocked down a pair of free throws with 5:14 left in the game to move to 1,705 points and claim the label as DC's most prolific scorer since the program joined the NCAA Division III ranks prior to the 1991-1992 season. Wolfrum now sits as the Yellow Jackets' second-leading scorer in school history, trailing only Dennis Bostleman's (1984-1988) record of 2,404 career points.

Despite stealing the headlines with his record-setting afternoon, Wolfrum had plenty of help from Ryan Hicks and Bernard Edwards. The post duo excelled in their first start together, as Hicks knocked down nine-of-11 shots for a team-high 22 points and Edwards added 19 points.

The Jackets rode the hot shooting of Wolfrum, Hicks and Edwards to a 56.6-percent clip as a team and sank eight-of-16 attempts from beyond the arc to overwhelm the Mount. Defiance also committed only nine turnovers and held the lead for the final 30:28 of action, en route to sweeping the season series with Mount St. Joseph for the second-straight year.

Defiance took control of the game early, using a 10-0 stretch to open up a 25-16 first-half lead, before heading to the break with a 41-31 cushion.

The Jackets then opened the second half on a 16-3 tear, holding the Lions to one field goal in the first nine minutes of the stanza and building a commanding, 57-34, lead. Hicks and Edwards fueled the decisive stretch by teaming for 14 of the Jackets' 16 points to open the half.

DC coasted from there, breezing to the 77-63 win to climb to 13-8 overall and 9-5 within the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference.

The Jackets will look to seal a winning record and potentially clinch a spot in the upcoming HCAC Tournament when they host Earlham (2-19, 1-13 HCAC) on Wednesday, February 6 at 7:30 pm inside the Karl H. Weaner Community Center.
