BABSON PARK, Mass. – The Babson College men's basketball team was held to just 31.1 percent shooting from the field as the host Beavers fell to nationally-ranked WPI, 66-43, in New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) action on Wednesday evening.

With the loss, Babson fell to 11-10 on the season and 3-5 in league play, while the Engineers, ranked fourth in the county by D3hoops.com, remained perfect at 20-0 overall and 7-0 in the NEWMAC. This marks the 10th consecutive season with at least 20 wins for WPI, which is the second longest active streak in Division III men's basketball.

The Beavers struggled to find open looks all night, hitting just 14-of-45 from the field, including a 3-of-18 clip from three-point range. Junior Kenny Ross (Furlong, Pa.) led the Green and White with a gutsy performance at the point guard spot, scoring 10 points to go with five rebounds and three assists. Sophomore Ryan Stowe (Shrewsbury, Mass.) also netted 10 points while accounting for two of the team's three trifectas, and sophomore John Wickey (Manchester, N.H.) added nine points and four boards.

WPI was paced by junior Ryan Kolb (Southington, Conn.), who scored a game-high 17 points on 7-of-10 shooting, and first-year Aaron Davis (Marshfield, Mass.) and sophomore Sam Longwell (Acton, Mass.), who each added 11 points.

Trailing 5-0 early, Babson battled back with a 7-1 run to take its only lead of the game at 7-6, thanks to five straight points from first-year guard Travis Sheldon (Woodstock, N.Y.). However, the Engineers answered with a 7-0 run of their own to build a 13-7 advantage with 13:05 left in the first half, and although the Beavers whittled the lead back to just two moments later, WPI extended its lead to double figures later in the period.

Armed with a 30-19 advantage at the break, the Engineers scored first in the second half and never let the margin dip below 12 the rest of the way as the visitors claimed the 66-43 win.

GAME NOTES: This was the 66th meeting between the two teams, with Babson still holding a 39-27 series edge against the Engineers. The programs first locked horns back in 1974-75… Prior to tonight's contest, the Beavers had shot 45.5 percent from the field while making 7.5 three-pointers per game over their last six contests.
